One of my favorite Audio books of all time

Love the ideas, music, performance. Fresh ideas and spoken in a new way. Really great work !! Organization within the audio could use work though. Could use chapter titles. Also the chapter titles spoken don’t align to the chapter numbers written in the book itself in the app.

A lot of love on sharing an idea the world needs more of

What if work could be fun? What if it *should* be fun? I was inspired to heslar stories from Bree Groff and was happy to take away ideas that I'm eager to try out in my own professional life. It's surprising to realize work does occupy a third of our life, and yet somehow we have come to accept something that takes up this much of our life doesn't need to feel joyful! Bree offers actionable takeaways and delightful stories. I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook, and the sound design makes it one of the best I've ever listened to. This was such a fun listen, and the love of the author for her work really shows.

this take on making our work life fun as well as living our best lives was surprisingly new, novel, and extremely entertaining to listen to. as someone who listens to or reads over 100 books a year, this one very much stood out for me and will go easily in my top 10 if not top five all time. this is a great book for anyone who runs a team, or even has just let the addiction of work get a little bit too much of their lives.

Today Was Fun is the rare business book that accepts the challenge of examining the entire 50,000-foot view of how we approach work. Bree beautifully takes on the normalized pain of the modern worker and shows us how much of what we label professionalism is really just performative behavior driven by maladaptive social norms. The tone is light and funny, and it's one of the best-produced audiobooks I've had the pleasure to listen to. it feels like sitting with a smart friend who has seen the inside of big companies and finally decided to tell the truth. What I loved most is how actionable it is. This isn't a book about making work cute. It is about getting good at life, not just work, and refusing to give the people you love whatever is left after work takes the best of you.
