Excellent family dynamics with the whole family being magi except for the MC. Him not believing that he is one but his family encouraging him that his powers will come. I loved the grandma telling all her stories. The ending gave me chills.

A tale of survival in a foreign land. Magic is just life turned to a purpose. It doesn’t end the conflicts or the wars.

This marks the third story of Temere that I've read and each is a marvelous glimpse into a complex world. I'm very appreciative of this novella approach. Dark breadcrumbs are leading us through a sinister Canterbury Tales but there is as much hope as there is darkness. Looking forward to the next installment.
Author narrated and he just gets a little better every time.
