New York Times best-selling author Diane Mott Davidson serves up tantalizing mysteries garnished with heart-stopping suspense and wry humor. In this tempting tale, caterer and sometimes sleuth Goldy Shulz proves she is one “tough cookie” as she faces threats to her business, her family, and her very life.

Everything seems to be going wrong for Goldy. The health inspector has shut down her catering business in Aspen Meadow, Colorado, due to non-standard plumbing. When she hosts a live cooking show for PBS, she drops eggshells into the cookie dough. On the way home from that humiliating experience, she finds the chairman of the State Parole Board - dead with hundred dollar bills drifting in the snow around him. Goldy’s troubles really begin, however, when the police launch a murder investigation and drag her into the middle of it.

Barbara Rosenblat’s sparkling performance ensures you’ll savor Goldy’s exciting escapades and each of her mouth-watering menus.

What made the experience of listening to Tough Cookie the most enjoyable?

The combination of Davidson's entertaining storyline and loveable, familiar character's with Rosenblat's ability to bring those characters to life make for another great listening experience. I've been listening to the entire series and am sad that I have almost come to the end. Davidson and Rosenblat are the best!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Goldy, of course. She is smart and strong yet vulnerable. In every book, no matter how busy and hectic her schedule, she never ceases to be a caretaker for others. I also love Tom. Their love story is sweet and heartwarming. Marla is a hoot, and she is a great friend to Goldy.

Any additional comments?

Listen to the series, starting with book 1, Catering to Nobody. Each book is a stand alone, but if you listen in order, the background story is much more meaningful. Barbara Rosenblat narrates all but one. I started listening to the one she didn't narrate, but ended up reading that one on kindle. I was too accustomed to Rosenblat's characters.

Thoroughly Entertaining!

I liked this mellow mystery, including a bit of wholesome family life and seasonal recipes. The narrator has a warm, raspy voice with pleasant intonation sand expressions. I'm looking up the next one in the series and inspired to try some of the yummy meals described!

Much better than the last installment. The humor is back and all is well in Goldy’s life. . .well, expect for her always finding a dead body.
