NATIONAL BESTSELLER

Taking up where his beloved A Year in Provence leaves off, Peter Mayle offers us another funny, beautifully (and deliciously) evocative book about life in Provence. With tales only one who lives there could know—of finding gold coins while digging in the garden, of indulging in sumptuous feasts at truck stops—and with characters introduced with great affection and wit—the gendarme fallen from grace, the summer visitors ever trying the patience of even the most genial Provençaux, the straightforward dog "Boy"—Toujours Provence is a heart-warming portrait of a place where, if you can't quite "get away from it all," you can surely have a very good time trying.

Peter just has a way of writing that makes you feel you’re there experiencing it. Plus I love the English humor.

I love stories about life in France as an ex-pat. It was something I wanted to do after I retired but situation was that I couldn’t. So I’d love to hear about other peoples experiences, and both of these books are very entertaining.

I love the short little stories. They were very humorous.

This narration by Toby Longworth loses all the humor, whimsy, sparkle and charm captured in the narration by Peter Mayle.

Listened to the abridged version narrated by Peter Mayle, then noticed it was abridged and ordered the unabridged version, not noticing the change in narrator. Big mistake.

Ordered for a family member who is ill. Unfortunately the Longworth narration is leaden and the gift is no longer uplifting or athecaptivating and charming respite from the pain and the worries of illness it was intended to be.

The joke is all in the telling. And an audible story all in its narration.

Narrator better suited for reading movie promos. The audible sound of his breath was distracting.

Not ideal narrator
