The characters developed in this series and I was really beginning to enjoy it. I began thinking there was more to Rachel. She was almost a doctor, after all, so she would bring something to the table. John also became more interesting. (The best character is really Dog). More of his background comes to light.

SPOILERS:
But…what kind of man forgets his wife he supposedly loves so easily. This man proves over and over he’s not a quitter and can stay focused on the mission, but seems to forget his first “mission” was to find his wife. After a month? He forgets her and writes her off for dead? He doesn’t ask anyone to check intake records for her? (Before they’re deleted) The adulterous behavior in the midst of running for their lives is just nauseating. So much for loyalty and those wedding vows. I keep hoping Rachel will die and yet inexplicably she doesn’t, over and over.

Ok but with one major issue

Enjoyable series, love the narration. lots of action. John, Rachel and dog survive this book. 😁 and it was fast paced like previous boss in the series. doesn't disappoint but kinda a cliffhanger ending.

GREAT SERIES

This book tries very hard to dismantle everything that made John Chase such an outstanding protagonist. His honour is almost dismantled by Rachel’s boobs and the fact that Rachel is fine with pushing for secco knowing how it would kill John if Katie is alive makes me loathe her. But John is the biggest problem. It’s been a month! He does NONE of the plethora of things he could do in order to search for Katie. Doesnt even check if she is among the refugees at any of the bases he comes across. The author tries to mask Johns badass decay by suggesting him not knowing where to physically go to search for Katie is why he starts kissing with Rachel. Apparently he is an idiot now. I don’t like him and I think Rachel is without the integrity and standards the was hinted at in previous books. Feeling feefees for someone is NOT a good reason to become a smaller worse version of yourself. Either the author is choosing to make John less of a hero by actively writing him this way, or the author has the emotional intelligence of a beetle

Badass decay
