Mississippi holds its secrets close—and some of them still haunt the swamps, towns, and courtrooms of the Deep South.

In True Crime: Mississippi, Logan Carter delivers a gripping journey through real-life horror, corruption, injustice, and mystery. From civil rights assassinations and deep-rooted racial violence to unsolved disappearances and forgotten serial killers, this book peels back the layers of a state soaked in both beauty and blood.

What you’ll uncover:

  • A chilling fictionalized intro that sets the tone with atmospheric dread

  • True stories of murder, cover-ups, and the long shadow of injustice

  • Infamous cases like Emmett Till and Medgar Evers—retold with clarity and power

  • The lurking presence of the Dixie Mafia and Southern organized crime

  • Haunting mysteries that remain unsolved to this day

Part investigative journalism, part regional history, and part literary storytelling, this book is for readers who crave the unsettling truth behind the legends—and the hidden stories buried just beneath the surface.

Being from and still living in MS and a few miles from where Leigh Occhi was abducted, I find it really aggravating that you totally switched the mom and daughter around in this story. The little girl is Leigh Oochi, not her mom. The little girl, LEIGH OOCHI is the child who disappeared, not the mother.
