A courageous and searingly honest memoir about the first year of one man's life following the birth of his daughter and the death of his wife, and the inspiration for the Netflix film Fatherhood, starring Kevin Hart.

"Heartbreaking, raw, moving and uplifting." —The Hollywood Reporter

Matt and Liz Logelin were high school sweethearts. After years of long-distance dating, the pair finally settled together in Los Angeles, and they had it all: a perfect marriage, a gorgeous new home, and a baby girl on the way. Liz's pregnancy was rocky, but they welcomed Madeline, beautiful and healthy, into the world. Just twenty-seven hours later, Liz suffered a pulmonary embolism and died instantly, without ever holding the daughter whose arrival she had so eagerly awaited.

Though confronted with devastating grief and the responsibilities of a new and single father, Matt did not surrender to devastation; he chose to keep moving forward, to make a life for Maddy.

In Two Kisses for Maddy, Matt shares bittersweet and often humorous anecdotes of his courtship and marriage to Liz; of relying on his newborn daughter for the support that she unknowingly provided; and of the extraordinary online community of strangers who have become his friends. In honoring Liz's legacy, heartache has become solace.

"Two Kisses for Maddy is less a conscious piece of writing than a spontaneous eruption from the heart. It will make you cry but not only out of sadness. Some of your tears will be for the beauty of love and its miraculous power to heal even the deepest wounds." —John Grogan, New York Times bestselling author of Marley & Me

Would you consider the audio edition of Two Kisses for Maddy to be better than the print version?

I never touched the print version. But having Matthew narrate his story was an amazing experience. Anytime his voice cracked or focused on a specific story it made the story so personal. It was beautiful.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Two Kisses for Maddy?

I knew the overall story (the tragedy) but I really enjoyed getting a grasp on his wife as his wife. At the beginning of the book he really let you connect to Liz as he did.

Have you listened to any of Matthew Logelin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I never heard him before but again I appreciated having him take me on this journey.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Any additional comments?

I visited Matthew's blog multiple times throughout the time I read his book. And I am inspired to look into his non-profit. I felt honored to learn about his wife.

I cannot phantom how the author read his memoir, but thoroughly grateful that he did! I laughed numerous times - picturing the scene he talked about! I had tears on & off, mostly that he was able to have the for-thought for compassion OR the understood anger in some poignant situations! His wife must be incredibly in awe up in heaven!

surreal & incredible at the same time!

I’ve had this book in my Audible library for years and finally listened. A good, but a very tragic and sad story. What should have been a wonderful event for this couple turned to sadness. The author did a great job in moving the story along and I was engaged throughout. I could have done without the f bomb. I hope this wasn’t his daughter’s first word. I do recommend the book. It’s a good lesson for dealing with grief.

Good, but sad story

Breathtaking, sad, happy, hilarious, and memorable. Matt created this book to allow Maddy to have tangible memories of her beautiful mother. You didn't set out to ever be anything other than a good husband and father, you became an inspiration to many. Thank you for sharing Maddy and your words over all these years. I can not believe Maddy is 9 in four days. Enjoy your day Maddy!
