He was never beaten with belts. He was never starved. But he was abandoned in the cruelest way imaginable—by silence, indifference, and rejection from the very people meant to protect him.

Two Parents, One Child, No Love is the unflinching true story of a boy forced to raise himself in a home that never wanted him—and the man he chose to become.

Mark Anthony invites you into the shadows of his childhood: a father who saw parenting as duty, not love; a stepmother whose cruelty was masked by civility; and a mother who visited once a month, just long enough to be a stranger.

This memoir is not a cry for sympathy—it’s a testimony of survival, self-definition, and the defiant act of breaking the cycle.

If you’ve ever felt invisible, unwanted, or unworthy—this book will remind you that healing is possible, even from the deepest scars.

Listening to this account made me realize how much we take for granted when it comes to having a supportive family environment. This audiobook focuses heavily on the daily reality of a child who has to be his own parent, navigating the complexities of growing up while being treated as an afterthought. There is a very steady build-up from the isolation of his early years to the eventual independence he finds later in life. It really highlights the idea that our beginnings don't have to dictate our endings, which is a message that anyone could find some value in today.

This audiobook tells the real story of a boy who grew up feeling unwanted by his parents. The author describes his childhood in a house where he had to take care of himself, and no one cared much about him. Even though he wasn’t beat or starved, the lack of love hurt him. This kind of reminds me of my childhood because my dad was not around and my mom had to work so much. The way the story is told is simple and honest, and it made me feel sad but also hopeful. Listening to it, I wanted things to get better for him, and it was good to see how he became stronger later in life. This is good book for anyone going through trauma recovery.

Two Parents, One Child, No Love: The True Story of a Child Cast Aside and the Man He Became is emotional, honest and well narrated. It is a story about 'a boy who was abandoned to a man who rose' and learn to choose love. I particularly like that he was able to break the cycle, forgive and was able to rewrite the story.
