Lies, lies, lies...

The lies from Harvard Academy's Elite had fallen upon deaf ears. With the truth revealed, Sam was the only person I could turn to and trust.

But a girl once so broken was only bent. I returned stronger than before. The de Lacharrieres could play their silly little games and spew their lies.

One thing remained true, I was getting free of my father's clutches. Even if that meant having to side with the enemy.

The four guys who broke my heart with little white lies would have to heal me with their ugly dark truths.

I rated part one of this duet 4 stars. I’m definitely more lenient on my initial reviews when it comes to a series because there’s so much unknown and unfinished. I was also intrigued by the first book - it reeled me in and I needed to know what happens next. I’m also a sucker for reverse harem. The second book rates 2.5-3 stars for me. Although there were many moments of this story I ABSOLUTELY LOVED, a few things drove me crazy. I really think this duet should have been a single, longer novel (or more meat added to each book) as both novels were on the shorter side. I’m getting perturbed by the plethora of authors draining more funds from their readers by forcing us to buy book after book to complete a story. News flash: you can have a cliffhanger type moment in the middle of a book!! Plus, you’ll get more repeat business if people don’t feel taken advantage of. I also felt like certain things were just swept over and not fully addressed. For example, no spoilers intended...but...mild spoiler...the girl literally attempted suicide. Circumstantial or not, that’s serious. Additionally, I wanted more deets on the demise of Kresley’s father. I also kept wondering why the guys were so focused on making sure K’s mom and brother were financially covered (when they finally took down daddy dearest) yet not seemingly concerned with their physical and emotional well-being considering they lived with an abusive a-hole. Is that just me?!! My biggest disappointment was probably the lack of focus on the relationship growth between Kresley and Cole. I was drawn to his character from the beginning but felt like he didn’t get as much “air time”. Although some of his mysterious nature was revealed and I felt like I knew him better at the end, I still wanted more. The last scene solely between him and Kresley was so anticlimactic. Without going into great detail, I was so excited at how the scene was unfolding. And I loved the effort he put in to give them some privacy in a way that was special and uniquely theirs. Things were heating up and then “BAM!”...he doesn’t want to rush anything physical. This is months and months into the story...and it was never readdressed! Until the very last chapter, I kept thinking maybe I got it wrong and this was a trilogy - but nope! Things just ended sort of abruptly imo. The epilogue was sweet though. On a positive, narration was good and I think it enhanced the story for me.

Not much really happened in the 2nd part of this series - I feel I could sum it up to the guys groveling for forgiveness after the big reveal at the end of part 1, a big fight scene where Kressley joins in when she thinks her men are in trouble, Kressley forgives her fuys and we have lovey-dovey scenes, another secret that the guys were keeping come to light that Kressley also ends up forgiving - The End. That this was performed in duet style bumps up the rating for me.

I loved this book. Well both for that matter. The accents were awesome. Great ending. Wish I had more.

I loved that even after Kressley found out the truth that the guys did not give up on her. I also love a story when the heroine does not have to choose between the guys and they just accept that she loves them all equally.

Great conclusion
