Sean Crisden
In this anti-slavery novel by the American author Harriet Beecher Stowe, Uncle Tom's Cabin is centered on the character of Uncle Tom, a long-suffering black slave around whom the stories of other characters - both fellow slaves and slave owners - revolve. This emotional novel portrays the reality of slavery while also stressing that Christian love can defeat something as damaging as enslavement of fellow human beings. Uncle Tom's Cabin was the best-selling book in the 19th century, and second best-selling following the Bible.

Now one of my favorite books.

Have you listened to any of Sean Crisden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I thought he did a decent job at the voices of the different characters. Although, at times he sounded very "white", especially after talking like one of the slaves. ... who knows, maybe that was a purposeful literary device. :-)Any additional comments?
I didn't realize until after I started listening to the book that it was the best selling novel of the 19th century. The story is good, although at times it can meander. I can see why this book would drive home the immorality of slavery, and become unpopular in the South (and probably in the North as well).Good Read for an almost forgotten classic
