Under the Ottoman Veil is a sweeping historical romance set during the height of the Ottoman Empire. Marija, a woman with a mysterious past, finds herself torn between two powerful men—her first love and Sultan Bayezit, the ruler who claimed her as his wife. As she navigates the dangerous political landscape, Marija must protect her two sons—Milos, a fierce warrior, and Murat, the Sultan’s heir—while keeping the secrets of her heart hidden. Filled with passion, betrayal, and the struggle for identity, this tale of love and sacrifice takes readers on an emotional journey through the turbulent history of the Ottoman Empire. Will Marija's past destroy the future of those she loves, or can she forge a path to redemption?
If you enjoy the powerful storytelling of Philippa Gregory, the heart-wrenching romance of Paullina Simons, the exotic settings of Kate Furnivall, and the emotional depth of Kristin Hannah and Diana Gabaldon—this book belongs on your shelf.

The story was OK but the audiobook needs editing! I almost gave up seberal times. Half the time the main character is called Maria, the other half she is called "Marredge" or "Marredga". It took me several chapters to realize these weren't separate people.
Then, her lover and her brother have the same name? Why confuse the reader?
I was frustrated with the characters' behavior and choices. The book ended abruptly and with loose ends.

OK story, NOT a good reading
