Now that her grandmother is gone, Tracey decides to spend summer at the beach and reflect on where she wants life to take her next. Not only was this the love story of Tracey and Jackson, it was also a tribute to people now dead that significantly impacted both their lives.

The melancholy Tracey meets Jackson soon after her grandmother has passed away. While it's a case of instant attraction, we get to see them building a relationship and working towards their HEA over a longer period of time.

I was pleasantly surprised at how complete this story was given its short length. The story is tight and well paced and includes a cast of secondary characters that enhance, rather than detract the story.

Ann Bumbak accurately portrays the emotions of the characters. A couple of times, I felt the narration to drag but speeding it up made the book sound strange.

A short story that's complete and satisfying

Jude Ouvrard did an excellent job with this short story, I enjoyed listening to every minute of Tracy and Jackson's Prelude to happiness.

Jackson is like every woman's first date and husband all in one, he can cook and knows how to satisfy every palette. He's a wiz in the kitchen.

Under the Sun is a story about two people learning to move on from Lost and find happiness where least expected.

Any additional comments?

The characters were well developed and it was a sweet, touching tale of two people whose happiness was long overdue. Jackson put his life on hold after the death of his fiance and their baby. Tracey put her happiness on the back burner to care for her dying grandmother. It just goes to show that good things happen to good people.....

I am all for a happy ever after, but I want the story of how they got there. I want to see characters grow through the story. But since this is a very short novella so much story is cramped into this. So much that the story felt flat. There is potential in the storyline, but it has a long way to go. I just didn’t believe the story as it is.
Narration.. was okay but almost to sultry and slow.

First, my normal apology because it's very difficult to execute a good story that reads in under 2 hours. Now, all I can say about "Under The Sun" is that, IMHO, it's stale and cliché-ridden. Although well written, the dialogs and situations are unoriginal. I'd like to continue to review Ouvrard's work and discover that her books are normally better.

Ann Bumbak's narration was somewhat uncomfortable. There were tiny pauses after some words that interrupted the sentence's flow. As far as her voice quality, it was feminine, soft and melodic. Her inflections were good, too. I couldn't get over the wee little apneas...

Hands deep in my pockets...
