It was a sad day for many when Rev. Charles Wright retired as the pastor of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Snowflake Falls. However, there was still excitement in the air at the arrival of the new vicar, Erich Pickler. Erich wasn't overly thrilled that he had been sent to the small town, but since it was only a one year assignment, he figured he'd just try to make the best of it.

At 38 years old, Erich was already a widower with no intention of ever getting married again. It was his goal to focus on the ministry at hand and learn all he could about being a pastor. He didn't realize, however, that this town had a few outrageous women who were infamous for their matchmaking attempts. Fannie Mae Zimmerman was one of those women, and she had it in her mind that Erich would be a perfect match for her beautician, and very good friend, Kitty VanDyke.

Not everyone in town believed it was a good idea for Erich to get involved with the town "tart" as the older generation would say. However, it didn't take Erich long to realize there was more to this woman than her outward appearance would suggest. Soon his broken and lifeless heart began to beat again whenever he was around her. Kitty, who had been broken herself from all the false accusations that had ruined her reputation, dared to hope that Erich could see past the outward and really see her for who she was on the inside.
