Unreliable, irresponsible, unpredictable, unaccountable—Yaz knows how her family views her.

She was never like them, though. Never academic enough, never serious enough, never really good enough.

He was different. Heath was the one who stuck up for Yaz when she was a child. As her brother's best friend and ten years older, he had been her hero—always defending her to her family, always seeing the best in her—he made her feel worthy of approval.

As her childhood adoration morphed into full-blown teenage love for her idol, and Heath grew from the good-looking boy she knew to the devastatingly handsome emergency department doctor he is today, his attitude seemed to change. For some reason, her quirks went from charming to annoying—her alternative worldview from refreshing to ridiculous. In fact, there are a lot of things about her that Heath seems to now find ridiculous:

"You look ridiculous, Midge."

"All this alternative therapy crap is a ridiculous waste of time."

"Your obsession with windsurfing is getting ridiculous."

"That ridiculous bike of yours is a bloody health hazard. When are you going to grow up and get a car?"

Having gone from worthy to unworthy in Heath's eyes, Yaz convinces herself that his cruelty has killed her childhood crush. After one humiliation too many, she finally cuts ties altogether. By the time Heath starts to see all that he could lose, it might be too late. Maybe it's not Yaz who's the unworthy one after all?

Unworthy is a full-length brother's best friend, secret crush, unrequited love, enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance.

Yaz and Heath story is beautiful which we knew was coming from book 1. I was so proud of Yaz standing up for herself especially to her family, how she didn't do it before is beyond me. I am so proud of her not just giving in and forgiving Heath right away. I understood why Heath was the way he was, but it was still no excuse to treating Yaz the way he did. I cried more in this story understanding how Yaz emotions and being torn down. It was also great to understand how much healing Heath needed. Amazing writing, Amazing Narration. 👏🏾

This one might be my favorite in the series

What i love about this story is that it parallels two very different childhoods: one of neglect and terrible parents and one of loving parents who dont see how words can hurt. Both leave scars. Both create wounds that carry into adulthood. And both make people into themselves as adults. It has a nice parallel to it. The author does a nice job with the tension between the two main characters as well as weaving in histories. It was a very compelling listen.

Think “Pride and Prejudice” meets the Susie Tate world. And done so well! Heath definitely has some major Mr Darcy vibes - can’t stop putting his foot in his mouth. Yaz has a definite “I can do it all by myself“ issue and doesn’t see her own prejudices. Took these two a long time to get out of their own ways. But a fantastic journey getting there.

So good!!
