Popular authors Virginia DeBerry and Donna Grant team up for a provocative novel about the high-stakes world of New York real estate.

Avery Lyons returns to the Big Apple after two decades away and learns she has inherited a chunk of property on Central Park North. Her cousin would like to buy the land, and Avery is willing to sell—until a reporter uncovers the truth behind the dealings.

this book was just okay for me, however I like they characters for their other books tied into this book.

This book could have been better.

If you could sum up Uptown in three words, what would they be?

Good not Great!

What did you like best about this story?

Some of the history was good about NY (Harlem, Manhattan, central park, etc.) and NJ. The storyline was good overall!

Which scene was your favorite?

All of the scenes with Avery's friend Alicia. Would love to have a friend like her. Also loved the part where Dwight thinks he is back in control and can speak out and fix the situation with the young boy and the cabinet incident, walks intentionally into the reporters and they bring up his relationship with his prostitute - Mistress Delilah!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes when Avery goes to see Dwight near the end to let him know how she feels and that she was letting go of the past and moving on!

Any additional comments?

Even though it starts slow, I think it is a good book and I have given all of their other books 5 stars, this one did not quite meet up to the high standards that I think have been established by these two authors. The action was quite a bit slower. Still think a pretty good book for a book club discussion. There is a lot of variations but some slow and dull. Need more extreme variety instead of routine.

Slow Start but enjoyed the book overall!

Let me start by saying this book starts off slow. However, by chapter four you are well into. It was a great storyline. The ending was my favorite. We have to let go of past hurts to move forward into the future!
