I’ve been fascinated by the vagus nerve lately after learning that it plays a major role in the well-being of the entire body, and that certain techniques can help bring more calm and reduce anxiety. This audiobook was a great source of knowledge on how to reset the vagus nerve and perform somatic release using proper breathing techniques, cold showers, and some yoga practices (although I’m not a big fan of yoga).

There is also a lot of technical material explaining the vagus nerve, such as why it can trigger inflammation and stress, how it disrupts sleep, and how trauma can contribute to neurodivergence, with the vagus nerve playing a key role. I recommend this audiobook if you want to take a deep dive into the details of the vagus nerve, like I did.

I was able to release some of my anxiety with breathing techniques that the book provided, and I am working up to the 20-minute practice sessions that the book recommends. The information on the cold plug is well balanced with science, and something I plan on trying but haven't gotten up the nerve yet.
