Vanished tells the story of a man and woman faced with an almost unthinkable tragedy—the mysterious abduction of their son.

In the late 1930s, in the shadow of the Lindbergh kidnapping, and as war looms in Europe, Marielle Patterson shares and elegant Manhattan brownstone with her husband, Malcolm, and their little boy, Teddy. Though the couple's lives are filled with secrets, Marielle is a devoted wife and mother, and Malcolm is a man everyone admires.

On the eve of Teddy's disappearance, Marielle runs into her first love, American expatriate Charles Delauney. And when Teddy is kidnapped, Charles is first blamed, then arrested. But as the search for Teddy widens, even Marielle is scrutinized by the FBI and special agent John Taylor. Suspicions and accusations mingle with terror and heartbreak as every threat, every failure, every fear, is remembered, examined, explored.

During Charles Delauney's trial, a series of revalations begins to unravel the about Marielle, Charles, and Malcolm, uncovering the motives and passions controlling their lives.

Vanished is a tale of guilt, desire, suspense, and of people drawn inexorably together, seeking the child who... vanished.

Overall this story was ok. Not one of my favorites but not bad either. I’m glad it was a short story because it would’ve been terrible to drag it out unless a little more at the end with the main character

Performances were great

There wasn't really anything that I didn't like. The different accents just added to the interest.

Loved the story, very captivating. Also, loved that the narrator used different accents.

I’m very disappointed in the storyline and the content. The last few stories I’ve read a child has died. I could use less small children being stillborn or die as toddlers. It’s starting to be more like Disney. Somebody has to die in the story or it isn’t any good. I disagree. I am an advert, Danielle Steele book reader. I saw so many similarities in this book to others I have read that I didn’t feel it was new content. This one book will not discourage me from continuing to be a Daniellle Steele fan.

Very disappointed

First of all, I need to start paying attention to the length of these books. That’s on me, but it still made me angry. The characters were never developed. The storyline was never developed. It just seemed like it was the first four chapters of a novel and yet that was supposed to be the end and believe me I love Daniel Steele. I’m always waiting for her next book to come out so it pains me to say this.

So disappointed!
