The members full site sale is a great opportunity to get this book. If you miss the narrator, Dick Hill, then you will enjoy this narrator as they could be brothers both very talented. Thank you Shelley for putting me onto this book. I tend to put a lot of books in my wish list for the members only sale that way I get two deals for one. If you follow Shelly like I do, you find good books you would never have found on your own. I’m not sure how she gets them to put in her wish list but she saves you the work of having to dig out great entertainment. Thank you, Shelley. Have a wonderful holiday

This story starts out with a scream and a fast pace story from page one. This is set in Asia and it’s a different world. Enjoy the descriptions.
Where my comments of help?

A thriller on the high seas

I listened to Varuna to pass the time on a road trip so had the luxury of no interruptions to the story. The narrator did a great job of distinguishing the male and female characters and he has an easy voice to listen to. I enjoyed the many layers of interest - foreign places and cultures, diving (I am not a diver), ecology and world issues like narcotics plus I now need to investigate Komodo dragons. The personal relationships between characters, their motives and ambitions were revealed throughout the book. The violence of the drug lord was described in enough detail to make it real without being overpowering which makes it a good read/listen for people like me.

Get this OUTSTANDING BOOK!!!!

I’m writing this review because of Empress Karen!! I do appreciate all that you’ve said about my reviews I just wish Audible treated reviewers a little better and quit taking down 5 star reviews or burying others.

Anyway, I’ve had this book in my wish list for over a year and kept going back to it and putting off purchasing it. Unsure of the author but love Alan Philip Ormond (the narrator) I finally gave in… I now seriously hope that this author will continue his writing career and make this book into a series or at least write another standalone.

Wow!!!! This story was wonderful! I was hooked from the beginning. The hero at the heart of the story is an investigative journalist. After getting arrested in one foreign country for being where he wasn’t supposed to be, he’s off to another country to go where he should not be going.
This time it’s to catch poachers in protected waters and reefs. Because he lost his wealthy backer he’s had to find a ship capable of carrying his crew, camera equipment, dive equipment and anything else needed for an in-depth expose. The trip could be dangerous because of the people he’s trying to catch on film. What he doesn’t realize is that it’s more dangerous than even he knows, the captain and ship he’s hired also work albeit under duress for a major heroine trafficker and the belly of the ship is transporting a multimillion dollar shipment.

Alan Philip Ormond once again does a SPECTACULAR job narrating!!
