For six months, I survived the end of the world alone. Then my own body became the enemy.

I outran the dead. I scavenged in the ashes of Atlanta, trusting no one but myself. My paramedic training was my armor, my fierce independence the only law in a world without them. I was a survivor.

Then the fever hit. An agonizing transformation, a biological Awakening I never knew was possible, turned my body into a beacon. I’m an Omega now, and my scent is a siren’s call in the silent ruins—a lure for the infected Ash-Walkers and something far more dangerous: Alphas.

Captured by a ruthless pack of survivors, I'm no longer free. I'm a "protected asset." A prize.

  • Ronan, their cold and dominant leader, sees me as a strategic problem to be managed.
  • Dante, his brutal second, looks at me with a hunger that’s half hate, half desire.
  • Lennox, the quiet Beta healer, views me as a medical anomaly to be studied.
  • Owen, a fellow Omega, looks at me with a terror that mirrors my own.

They think they can cage me, but they've underestimated the woman they dragged from the rubble. I am not a possession to be claimed.

But our fragile truce is shattered by whispers on the wire. A rival pack, led by a tyrant who collects Omegas like trophies, has marked our territory. They’re not just a threat to my new pack—they’re a horrifying glimpse of the fate that awaits me if my protectors fail.

My captors think my scent is a weakness. They’re about to find out it’s a weapon. And I'm not just the bait in this trap. I'm the one who's going to spring it.

I love the story. It has strong development of characters and relationships as a pack. I hope the story continues. I encourage the writer to keep going. Virtual voice is ok, but I preferred the real narrator as it will elevate this story in a different level.

The story is solid

Getting use to virtual voice... prefer voice actors, but i'll take it. This is suppose to be a stand alone and I wish it wasn't

3.5 is an accurate rating in my opinion... but no smut or anything just so you know

We're on chapter 10 and debating whether we'll finish or not. So far, the female lead (an EMT, which is a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL) has spent months running and hiding, as expected with a post-apocalyptic/zombie book. So far, she's done an excellent job.

However, now after being literal moments from death (and she KNEW IT), she has decided to spend her first post-injury-unconscious-and-saved-by-the-heroes moments declaring how she was doing just fine by herself.

She's being petulant rather than asking meaningful questions about how or why she was 'kidnapped', her injuries seen to, and how they have real food and supplies. Sick with no food or water for days and she's refusing to eat because she wants to go home...which is a compromised basement where she almost died. Really?

We would expect this kind of reaction from a child. Full stop. Right now, we have no reason to like or care about her at all. Haven't decided whether we're going to try to endure 5 more hours of this.

May not finish

I could not finish. It is somewhat perditible and the virtual voice does not help. There was no real change in voice tone. Everyone has the same voice, which made it difficult to follow along.

Challenging to listen too
