Victor Echo Zero Five is the poetry journal of Steven M. Silver, written during his years as a Marine officer and the aftermath of the Vietnam War. Silver became a Naval Flight Officer and flew in the backseat of F4 Phantom IIs. In Vietnam, he had 316 combat missions in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. After leaving the Marines, he eventually found himself a psychologist working with other combat veterans. Sometimes raw, always personal, Victor Echo zero Five captures the experiences of a young man during a unique, exciting, demanding, and sometimes painful time. Within the literature of the Vietnam War, the book offers a perspective not often replicated, and in its reflections of what has been for many veterans a long voyage home, it brings some light to the issues confronting all veterans of all eras. Steven M. Silver is a writer, psychologist, and historian. He has served as a Marine and an officer in the Army National Guard. As a psychologist, his specialty since 1972 has been combat stress reaction and PTSD, a field he is published in. He also has written a science fiction series available through Amazon Kindle. Our Marine Corps Brotherhood.

The excellent picture Captain Silver paints of his experience in the Marine Corps. I shared a part of his journey with him, He was a 1st Lieutenant and my OIC while we served in VMFA-531 in El Toro. He hadn’t begun his tour in Nam and I had just returned. I came back from VMFA-115. When I left and was discharged in 1969, he left and joined my brothers in 115. I remember his coloring books and his wisdom. I was a 20 year old Corporal and looked at him as a sort of big brother. I remember him fondly and am very proud to have served under him and that he moved on with a career as Dr. Silver. I became a police officer following college in my own journey, eventually ending up as an attorney, graduating law school in 1989. As our beloved Corps approaches our 250 birthday, I wish him and all my brothers and sisters happy birthday and Semper Fi. May God bless America.
