The Cancer Ward Saints part II

Good continuation of the first story. Story line follows nicely although the style of writing seemed more to the point of the story and less on examining human ideologies. With Moses out of the picture Tommy picks up his dog and gets a new sidekick, who I really enjoyed. We were briefly introduced to the antagonist in the first volume and as far as dirty cop villains he takes the cake. Definitely someone you want to see get what is coming to them and boy does he.

Whereas the first book really was a discussion on race issues this book was more of a book on sexuality. Now that Tommy’s son is out of the closet he learns to deal with this and we get to see Tommy’s evolution to a better more tolerant person which I assume will ultimately pit him against the candidate in the third volume. We also get some tragedy that I didn't see coming and was quite depressing. This story really toys with your emotions. All in all I enjoyed this plot a bit more than the first and since we already were introduced to the characters in the first story this one felt like it had more action.

DeCarlo did a good job narrating this book as well. Didn’t hear any real difference with the first story’s narration which made for a nice seamless transition.
