The scar across the side of Jack’s head is the visible price. The risk to his friends at the academy is the hidden price. His challenge is how to balance the risks.

The final stage of his training is a shakedown cruise on an old minesweeper, barely able to achieve FTL entry and exit.

Midway through their cruise, the minesweeper collides with an ancient alien wreck, ripping the sides off the starship. Jack’s team of bots help seal the combined wreck to prevent air loss. Ghost, a nanolife form from the alien wreck, provides assistance.

Jack and his girlfriend, Sofia, are the only survivors, and air, food, and supplies are critical.

The countdown of days to survive is ticking.

No wonder the Royal Family are angry.

And there’s still a price on Jack’s head.

Plenty of action and suspense...a must listen. Once you start this Space Opera, you can not stop.

Excellent Storyline!

Jack and Sophia , both officers trainees in the RSN. On a fast track to graduation on their shipboard training schedule are both the only survivors of a collision with a relic in space.

A great beginning.

Shades of the Richard Jackson saga: tall, handsome, fit, and intelligent young man with a penchant for inventing leads a charmed life with lots of awesome and remarkable events and achievements. Most of the dangers that crop up are dealt fairly easily and quickly. Still, I found it entertaining to listen to.

Light, but entertaining.

This is the story of an extremely privileged young man floating carefree through life with the help of an omnipotent AI.

The main character faces almost no real struggle in this story. Even a near-fatal incident is dealt with in about 20 seconds, with no long term consequences.

In the end I wound up listening for longer than I should have since I hate having DNFs in my library, but I finally gave up on this one.

Narration was very good.

Not a very believable story. DNF

Jack could have been less “amazing” and the story would have been as good in the end.

Good story
