His magic will raise the dead.

Seven bodies have washed ashore in Florida, and one of the drowned is Chango, the voodoo sorcerer whose leather pouch holds a child's severed finger.

The sorcerer and his six followers have been buried in a mass grave. And prayers have been spoken to exorcise their unholy powers. But Chango's spirit still prowls the moonlit beaches, taking victim after victim...leaving them cannibalized and dismembered.

But what the police don't know is that the bodies are being used in an unspeakable ritual to resurrect the dead.

And, come morning, we will face the shocking horror of voodoo dawn.

I choose this book as a “companion” for a Halloween themed read as I sometimes do that. However, here it is New Years Day & I’m just now finishing it. I will say from personally speaking, I wouldn’t recommend listening to this audiobook while in a weird mindset, it doesn’t feel quite right.

The Information of Voodoo in this is interesting, but creepy

This audiobook was spectacularly eerie & spooky. I adore Voodoo stories & zombies of any kind. It was even wonderfully gross at times. To me anyway.
I even slept with my lights on, I was so freaked out. Any spooky or horror themed audiobook/book that has me sleeping with the lights on is TOP NOTCH!
That's why I highly recommend this audiobook!!!!!

Fantastically spooky

I read the book and saw the movie "Serpent and the Rainbow" many years ago (when it first came out) and have been intrigued with the zombies of Voodoo ever since. This was a good, short book involving a group of people who seem to be caught up in the machinations of a Voodoo practitioner named Chango.

A Haitian immigrant and his grandson come across seven dead bodies along the Florida beach where they are using a metal detector. The grandfather, Silvio, immediately recognizes the artifacts that have washed up on the beach as belonging to Chango and he knows what he must do: behead the corpse before it comes back to life.

Meanwhile, three couples from NYC are on vacation, staying at a cottage owned by an Anthropologist knowledgeable in Voodoo. The horrors that happen are truly terrifying and the author has done a good job in building up the tension.

The narrator did a good job with pacing and kept the story moving at a fast pace, which was perfect for this book. If you are looking for very different type of zombie, check out this book. You won't be disappointed!

I totally enjoyed this horror book with voodoo master Chango who came to America from Haiti. He tortures and kills victims and some he brings back. Enjoyed the characters of Jones, Dawson, and Martha and the ending, Barry and Susan were very lucky. Recommend if you enjoy a good voodoo book with good narration.
