The very best of the Irish poet, collected in one audiobook.

William Butler Yeats (1865-1939) was one of the greatest poets of the 20th century. Born in Dublin, a leader of the Irish Renaissance, he dreamed of creating a new cultural identity for his country. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923. This compelling collection spans his career. Works of precision, economy, and sensuous, lyrical beauty, they include "The Lake Isle of Innisfree", "The Wild Swans at Coole", "Byzantium", and "Leda and the Swan".

This is the way to experience poetry, in a way that as closely as possible mirrors an in-person reading by the poet.

Great poems and narrator

Lyrical language, presented well. A visual listening experience. I did not want this recording to end.

Beautifully read

The narrator, after Down by theSalley Garden catches the spirit of Yeats and does a wonderful job of it. It could have only 2 things better. The first a downloadable list of the poems in order narrated, (I guess I will just have to do that myself.) The second, Down by the Salley Gardens seems a little stilted, but maybe that is just my ear. I have played Down by the Salley Gardens so many times on my tin whistle that the way the narrator spoke it and how I hear it in my mind clashed. Even with that, if you like Yeats, you will love this recording. I have a feeling that the CD I burnt of this will be replayed many times. It is just music to the mind and soul.
