I really enjoyed the concept of the book. The main issue I had was the narrator was too child like. It just did not click for me.

The story is different and more accessible than other dystopian novels. It makes you feel you are in it. Especially if you’re from Los Angeles or at least familiar with the city of angels

Walls by SF Covell is a thrilling sci-fi novel that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from the very first page. The story takes place in a Los Angeles suburb where a mysterious wall of energy suddenly appears, trapping the residents and killing anyone who comes in contact with it. The novel follows the efforts of the diverse group of neighbors as they come together to survive and solve the mystery of the walls.

The author's unique writing style, reminiscent of a screenplay, is quick and easy to read. The characters are refreshingly nuanced, animated, and multilayered, offering a savvy social examination of cultural and ethnic diversity in the City of Angels. There was a wonderful mix of characters who used their collective ingenuity and skillful collaboration to face the problem at hand.

The pacing of Walls is stellar, with fast-clipped dialogue, clever quips, and intriguingly suspenseful sequences that keep the plot and character development brisk, entertaining, and succinct.

While the book does not provide much information about the walls' mechanism or their overall purpose, the ending is satisfying and sets the stage for the next installment. The presence of aliens only occurs at the end of the book, but it offers an interesting twist and leaves the reader with questions and anticipation for what's to come.

Overall, Walls is a well-written, easy-to-listen to, and uncomplicated sci-fi novel that offers a nice reprieve from the overwhelming cynicism of our times, reminding us that we are always better off when working together on the same team.
