Schubert was known to improvise waltzes in real time and this is considered to be one of those creations. This is a great piece for an early intermediate student of the piano and is a good example of the left hand waltz bass pattern. A full demonstration of the song is given at the beginning of the lesson for the student to listen to and practice with. The entire song is taught completely “by ear” using no music, print, or video. This allows the student to learn the song quickly and to memorize the piece while they are learning it.
