Doug Bond doesn't disappoint with a thriller from World War 1. Hard to stop listening and get out of the truck!!!

Impressive Historical Fiction

This was my first Douglas Bond book and it will not be my last. Historical fiction is a favorite of mine and I enjoy Christian content as well, but too often these books lack character development and plot lines are predictable and can be sappy. This work had none of these weaknesses, Having CS Lewis as a character added opportunity to work in philosophy and varying concepts on God discussed by men in the trenches of war. A natural and believable setting. I found it engaging from the beginning and the ending was profound. I am now encouraging my husband to read it!

Outstanding work!

This is a great story that is told with vividness and care. As both a Christian and a war that are in I was immersed in a sensory experience through story that was quite satisfying and emotionally painful at the same time. The cleverness with which the author includes some of C.S. Lewis’s most famous quotes is commendable. Given that the author was the narrator for this audiobook, I felt very confident that the story was being told with great accuracy and intent.
