A Thousand Breaths

I waited for perfection but it never came

I waited for honor but received his brother shame

I waited for belief but confusion reigned supreme

I waited for clear vision but I couldn't find my dream

So instead of waiting until I died a thousand deaths

I pulled up my bootstraps and breathed a thousand breaths

I took what I had and turned it into something to be proud of

I turned my dream into art and my life into hope and love
