WEREWOLVES OF THE CARIBBEAN The year is 1718, and London writer Rupert Aston Burke encounters an opportunity he can’t resist—cross the Atlantic to join the famous pirate Blackbeard and chronicle his adventures in a book. Such a definitive account of the pirates of the Caribbean would make him the literary star of London. There’s only one problem. Once he’s aboard Blackbeard’s ship, he can't leave. Worse still, when the pirates take a prisoner named Benjamin Carlyle, Burke soon learns that Blackbeard’s not the only monster in the Caribbean. Equal parts pirate book, werewolf book, and secret history, Werewolves of the Caribbean is a swashbuckling fantasy adventure sure to please fans of pirates and werewolves everywhere. And all truth, there was nothing much to dislike about it. It was fun to listen to.

The idea of a werewolf on Blackbeard’s ship? Now that sounds intriguing.

A fun example of a well-written and focused short story. Short enough to finish in an afternoon, but with a premise that by the end is doing well to tickle the imagination with thoughts of more stories.
