The Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Wessex was created through conquest by the Germanic tribe known as the Gewisse. For the following 500 years, this kingdom went through various transformations. Some even argue that those transformations were nothing more than the natural development of a society.

One of the main reasons for the success of the West Saxons was its leadership. A series of strong kings ruled this kingdom, expanding its borders, maintaining prosperous alliances, and leading their people into a better future. Wessex was one of the richest kingdoms, and it is no wonder that law and education prospered here. A great book on the history of Wessex, and more on the traditions, conflicts, and the ruling of other parts of England

This detailed and fantastically researched book focuses around the kingdom of Wessex, the last and formidable realm that stood in the face of several Viking invasions, but never crumbled. Instead rallying other Christians against those whom they believed were brutal pagans.
I totally recommend this book to those interested in such a historic veiw of England, and also for those, like me, who are continually fascinated with such books, especially after having enjoyed their journey in playing and learning from Ubisoft's 'Assassin's Creed Valhalla' game, as well as watching Netflix's 'The Last Kingdom' series.
