What I Learned From Dad Made Me a Better Man!

The older I’ve gotten, the more like Dad I’ve become. I often find myself sitting at our kitchen table doing what Dad used to do. I can see him in my behavior. Now that he’s gone, I don’t mind being a smaller version of him. I know I am and I hope that I’ll be even more like him as I mature. What Dad taught me has made me better than had he not done so. And I want to share those lessons with you as a tribute to him and our family, and hope that these lessons make other families as great as ours. What you’re about to read are not “lessons” from Dad in the sense that he sat down with me and said, “Here’s what you have to do, Bob.” We never had even one of those types of conversations. But all that I learned from him was from his modeling what a good man does. He never really told me much, but he showed me A LOT! We cannot teach character. We cannot teach leadership. The best we can do is show it. People will then follow. If we want to make a positive difference in our families and our lives, example will be everything! ~Bob Vásquez
