A family forever changed by the tragedies of WWII.

Hannah Elfenbein, a young, pregnant Jewish woman, is arrested in 1942 and sent to the Camp de Rivesaltes transit camp in Southwest France. Drawn to helping other young women escape, she seeks refuge for herself and others at a maternity hospital. But nothing is simple in occupied France, and she finds herself doing the unimaginable to save one precious life.

Eighty years later, Caitlyn Laurant takes a break from training to be a missionary nurse in Spain to visit nearby France, hoping to find her grandfather’s birthplace. But what she uncovers are secrets long buried by WWII atrocities.

I love that the author added spiritual aspect of God to the story when the characters felt at a loss

Loved it

This story is great and quite a feat for the author to write in three time periods. The narrator is not bad,
however, I wish she'd decide if Hannah's husband is LEVI (long I) or LEVEE )short i). She goes back and forth on her pronunciation of the name.

Great story, narrator confused

The search for family connections from a time when identities changed and records were lost or faked kept me riveted. The contemporary heroine’s search for identity and peace after devastating loss dovetails perfectly with the historical thread. The narrator wasn’t my favorite, but she got the job done and with such a compelling story, didn’t dim my enjoyment.

Triple split time
