“Characters speak like prophets,” (Kirkus) in this early 21st century road trip, murder mystery, and love triangle. “Watching them ignore their better instincts - especially concerning women...makes the characters more endearing....”

One night far from home, a mix of alcohol, recklessness, and coincidence reunite childhood friends Lynn and Marv with Caroline, the beautiful and unpredictable object of their desires. When Caroline is arrested for the murder of her husband and child, Marv and Lynn find themselves entangled in a mystery. The question that pursues the two friends through their searches for love, stabs at success, and self-destructive lapses is: Will they bother to solve it?

I bought this audio-book shortly after it became available, and I was captivated the moment I started listening. The first chapter draws the reader/listener in, and the narrator's performance only adds to the overall feel of the story. I strongly recommend this audio-book to anyone who enjoys making connections with the characters of a novel.

Lynne and Marv have been best friends since school. Until a girl they both liked entered the picture. Years later as adults they are away from home on a road trip to Chicago and soon they are faced with the same problems as they had in high school. Only this time someone ends up dead.

I really liked this story as it was well written and kept my interest. It wasn't as fast paced as I would have liked but it was well worth the slow unfolding of events.

The narration was great. My only complaint was that the narrator sounded a little too dramatic when speaking Caroline's parts.

I was given this audiobook review copy at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
