Lillian Maxfield was not sorry to see the Christmas holidays go on their merry way until next year. In fact, she was feeling like 'Scrooge' herself these days! Everything that could go wrong seemed to be going wrong, which explained her short irritable disposition.

It all started a week ago when her dear mother fell on the driveway, breaking her leg in several places. Her mother was a single parent, and together, she and her mother worked hard to keep their little household going. Now that the holidays were over, Lillian had been laid off from her Christmas job, and her job working at the grocery store had been reduced to twenty hours a week.

The only positive thing in her life was her meeting with her mother's doctor, Dr. Watson. It was difficult to concentrate on what he was saying due to his delightfully handsome looks. He offered several hopeful suggestions, and even went so far as to introduce her to the concept of 'love drops' from heaven. At this point, she was willing to try and pray for anything, and if a 'love drop' came her way in the form of Dr. Watson, she would count herself as the luckiest girl on earth!
