Twenty-seven-year-old Kara Larson is bogged down in the stress of planning her elaborate wedding to a professional golfer. Still, to fulfill the requirements of the Palmetto Pointe Junior Society, she makes time in her busy schedule to visit an elderly woman at a nursing home facility. Soon she finds herself mesmerized by the singsong Irish lilt of 96-year-old Maeve Mahoney as Maeve recounts the rambling story of her first love back in Ireland. Or, Kara begins to wonder, is she really retelling an ancient tale of myth and legend?

Waiting for the story to unfold in bits and pieces, and trying to discern the underlying truth, Kara is drawn in – and driven to remember her own first love: childhood neighbor Jack Sullivan. Gradually, she realizes that before she embarks on her new life, she must find out how her own story – with Jack – will end….

oh, how we loved walking with Cara as she follows the "hints of her heart"...we especially loved Maeve and the Irish element of the story.

Wonder-FULL story about following the hints of your heart

I thought the story had promise initially, but it began to drag midway through and I became disinterested. I finished it just to finish it. Also, I bought the audio book and the narration was hit and miss. One lead male character sounded participating rough. I’ll try the author again, but this one just wasn’t my favorite.

Had potential but…

I enjoyed the southern accents, the background of Ireland and the stories that can pull you in and make you question your own identity. For instance, are you living the life that you honestly want to pursue? Or are you trying to be what other’s want you to become?

Nice Storytelling

Wonderful writing and excellent romance. The author shifts in and out of memories and folklore to present pain and future hope with mesmerizing imagery. Durante does an believable performance.

enjoyed this audiobook. Kara lost her mother early in life and then she lost her best friend Jack when he had to move away. Later after becoming engaged Kara meets Maeve, an elderly woman. Maeve brings wisdom into Kara's life in a way that helps her to follow her heart. I thought her finacé was a pain and very insecure. I thought she should have ditched him.

A Sweet Story
