Ripped from her dying mother's arms, Morgana Fowler was cast into a life of desperate thievery. With a tongue even sharper than the blade she deftly wields, she has all but mastered her devious trade - until she picks the pocket of a dashing American who wrests her from the sordid streets of London. In the arms of her gallant protector, she is helpless against the longing he elicits within her. Royce Manchester basks in a world of privilege and power in the decadent British Regency, and lowborn Morgana finds in him a love she's never known. But the secret of her true parentage threatens to bring her new life crashing down. With a sinister figure from her past ever lurking at her heels, she and Royce must confront one of Regency England's most diabolical villains - a challenge that fans the flame of a love that knows no bounds.

I have read and reread this book for many years. It's in my "hands off" pile. And when I realized it was soon to be available on Audible.com I was very pleased. I was disappointed in the narrator. I mentally cringed when "Pip" spoke. I think the narrator got too much involved in the reading. It just wasn't right. But I love this book.

When you're about to invest 19 hours of your life to a historical romance you're hoping for it to be an action-packed, exciting, emotional, passionate, well-written story that contains vivid imagery and interesting well described characters. Well, if you're looking to be entertained by all these things, then look no further because this is one of those all-consuming stories.

Royce, a handsome, rich, brooding American catches Pip, a little Street urchin, and starts off a chain of events that will have cataclysmic consequences that'll touch so many lives.... but especially their own. There's villains hidden within friends and family that hold secrets of betrayals, greed, danger and murder. But through the many twists and turns, conflicts and the constant 'push n pull' relationship between Royce and Pip she slowly transforms from a mere caterpillar into Morgana the beautiful butterfly. Along the way it awakens in them desire, sexual chemistry, longings, misunderstandings, sex (mild) and a passion that'll eventually lead to trust, understanding, love and a HEA will surely follow.

Narrator's American accent came across as British, sometimes the characters were indistinguishable and the dialogue was slow in parts.

Worth a credit? A daunting three part download that'll have you 'Pheeeweeeing' at the end but the journey you've just been on will have been entertaining, enjoyable and YES creditworthy.

AN ENJOYABLE REGENCY SAGA THAT PACKS A LOT IN

I think the editor sleep through the book. It was waaaaaaay toooooo long! I actually looked at the publishing date of the book to find out if it was an old romance novel published in the days that were not PC. Nope I was wrong, it's a recent publish date. The sex scenes made me cringe; I had to fast forward over those. The narration was breathy and falsely dramatic. I did feel bad for Ms. Kinsolving, the book was so long it almost sounded like she was losing her voice at some points.

I want to say something good about it too. The story might not of been too bad if the editor had done his/her job and cut some scenes and asked Ms. Busbee not to describe everything in such finite detail, like describing the food the butler brought in.

Worth a credit? If you like long, tortuous romance books, hey give it go.

Snip, Snip to the Bodice Ripper!!

THIS is a historical romance with a STORY! There is the obligatory sex and angst so, rest easy. HOWEVER there is also character development, a mystery, a truly evil antagonist, a plot with a bit of a twist and regardless of the naysayers - an excellent narrator. I enjoyed it and I recommend it.

A novel with a story! Go figure!
