For psychic Mira Morales, it begins when a crazed woman accosts a jogger and demands to know where she can find Mira. In a confrontation, the lunatic is killed by the jogger and turns to stone before she hits the ground.

Mira reads the body and makes a startling discovery. The stone woman is from 2144, where the descendants of climate change survivors—Normals and White Crows—live in a giant dome. Crows represent nature’s rapid evolutionary leap to save humanity by endowing people with extraordinary abilities. Normals outnumber Crows, who keep them enslaved. Now the dome is collapsing, and the Crows’ only hope for the future lies in returning to the past. Hundreds of them are on their way to Mira’s time.

The invasion has begun.

********The future may not not be written in stone, but the bodies of time travelers tell a different story. White Crows is a high speed rollercoaster ride for the listener.

Critic reviews

T.J. MacGregor has found the perfect blend of sci-fi and mystery in her new novel, a story of warning and intrigue. - Hilary Hemingway

White Crows is a terrific story from a terrific story-teller. It's suspenseful, imaginative, and timely. Once I started reading it I couldn't stop until the satisfying ending. Now I can't wait for the next one! - Nancy Pickard, author of The Scent of Rain and Lightning

I loved the odd premise introduction here and the way the first half developed. I went in knowing little about the book, expecting maybe a routine thriller, but it kept getting weird and more interesting. The setup for the book is very good. Eventually as it goes along it runs out of steam and I started not to 'get' the conflict - maybe the author had some clever ideas that didn't work as well in the long game. I enjoyed the 'big picture' of the plot but the smaller details seemed less interesting. Ok... mild spoilers; the odd death that starts the books feels like a ploy but wow they pull off connecting it to a bigger story in a convincing scifi way. The mutant oddball characters are fun; but the time travel dynamics seem less interesting other than as an explanation for the characters. The end feels like a conflict that seems avoidable given the individuals involved; an unnecessary struggle dragged out. This book was such a mix of 'awesome!' and 'meh.' Narrator Cathi Colas fit the Mira character well.
