We live in an upside-down culture. We wink at our vices as coping strategies while restricting our virtues to our online personas, where they won't interfere with our real lives. And we wonder why we feel empty, exhausted, and directionless. But why do we do things that we know are harmful for us?

Jonathan "JP" Pokluda wants you to know there's a better, more fulfilling way to live, and it doesn't involve looking inside yourself for the answers—because that's not where you'll find them. With his signature wit and wisdom, he explains, unpacks, and expands on the age-old virtues we're told to pursue in Scripture: humility, forgiveness, generosity, diligence, self-control, authenticity, rest, and optimism. Far from being restrictive, these God-given goals for living free us to love and live as we wish we would.

Practicing virtues is not just something you do—it's something done in you, slowly but surely transforming you into the person you were meant to be all along. Whether you're eighteen or eighty, it's never too late to redefine what's important to you and reclaim a life of virtue.

This book stepped on my toes and got my attention. It doesn’t sugar coat God’s truth! Exactly the book I needed to read and will need to read or listen to again in the future!

Quite simply, it reminded me of the depth of sin and Gods forgiveness; as well as, the daily pursuit of holiness God includes us in.

This book is amazing for Christians who want to be intentional about their faith! Would highly recommend, and it’s always nice when the book is narrated by the author.

Great read!

Loved this book! Well written and easy to understand. Made me think a lot about things I need to work on. The only critical thing I will say is that the author using strange voices every time he was quoting someone or reading scripture was very distracting. His regular voice is perfect for an audiobook, but I was not a fan of the “voices“.

Great Book

This book is an excellent book for the beginner or believer. Using his own life as an example in many cases he shows how many of our "innocent" acts, really can put you onto a road we do not want to travel. The only minor issue i have is when quoting someone he will, as many narrators do, change the voice as to develop a character. He is a very good writer, he provides great lessons and examples, he is not a professional narrator. I found it actually took away from what he was saying. He should have simply read it, as ll of these voices sounded identical and not that great at that. ( for future reference).

Overall even that cannot take away from a very well written book.

great book.
