New York Times bestselling author Maisey Yates enthralls again when a cowboy returns to Copper Ridge, Oregon, to keep a promise—even if it means losing his heart…

Putting down roots in Copper Ridge was never Alex Donnelly’s intention. But if there’s one thing the ex-military man knows, it’s that life rarely unfolds as expected. If it did, his best friend and brother-in-arms would still be alive. And Alex wouldn’t have inherited a ranch or responsibility for his late comrade’s sister—a woman who, despite her inexperience, can bring tough-as-iron Alex to his knees.

Clara Campbell didn’t ask for a hero to ride in and fix her ranch and her life. All she wants is the one thing stubborn, honorable Alex is reluctant to give: a chance to explore their intense chemistry. But Clara has a few lessons to teach him, too…about trusting his heart and his instincts, and letting love take him on the wildest adventure of all.

couldn't put the book down. Enjoyed every minute of it. Especially how Clara was maybe to same to know what she wanted before Alex did.

When Alex told Clara about his father.

Maisey Yates is my favorite number one author. I have read all of her books that I could find. This book was way below her standards. The narrators were awful . They sounded like they were second grade readers. Very disappointed

Not up to standard

I really enjoyed the other Copper Ridge books before this one. But they’ve changed narrators and this one doesn’t have the ability or vocal range to make men’s voices sound different and her cadence is very slow. I did not find Clara to be a particularly likable character. I’m beginning to get a bit weary of the authors tendency to have the characters realize all of their mistakes in 24 hours and fix everything after an eight hour novel.

Narrator not as good as other books and Clara is not an appealing character
