The warning was ignored. The heat is rising. And now, the only way out is through the flames.

For Lieutenant Sam Keller, the Red Flag Warning over Ashford Ridge isn’t just a weather report—it’s a promise of destruction. Haunted by the tragedy that ended his career as a smokejumper, Sam knows the signs of a forest on the brink: the copper taste in the air, the silence of the birds, and the static charge that precedes the spark.

When a lightning strike ignites a valley primed by illegal logging and drought, the worst-case scenario becomes a terrifying reality. The blaze isn't just burning; it's hunting. Driven by its own weather system, a wall of heat cuts off the highway, trapping the residents of Ashford Ridge in a box canyon with no escape.

Teamed with Mira Chen, a brilliant park biologist who predicted the catastrophe, Sam must lead a desperate convoy of survivors through a gauntlet of death. From a crumbling mine shaft to a terrifying drive through the heart of a spinning fire tornado, every mile is a battle against the physics of heat and time.

With a corrupt developer determined to bury his negligence and a firestorm that consumes everything in its path, Sam has one job left: keep them alive until the break of dawn.

I really like this computer narrated voice. Seriously. It’s one of the best I’ve ever heard. (I wish Kindle for IPhone had it!!). Anyways, this book is excellent! Very good descriptions of each event and character. Several things combined to make this difficult to pause. So good that as soon as it was over I started it again. It’s well worth a credit!!!

Best fire story out there!
