Be careful what you wish for.

What would you do if you stumbled across a magic eight ball with all the answers? Would you ask it for the lottery numbers? Would you ask about the love of your life? That’s what Will Pearce did.

But as Will starts relying more on the eight ball to provide him with the answers that he seeks, he soon realizes that his magical gift comes with a heavy price.

Will is a supernatural thriller that leaves you wondering and asking yourself - what would I have done?

This story makes me afraid to pick up my 8 ball sitting on my desk.
Never thought that an 8 ball could make one do the things that he did. Either you do what it tells you to do or the concequenses could be deadly.
Not a story line that I ever imagined but was fantastic.

I really liked the concept of this story and it played out quite well. Cutting the cord on making your own decisions and allowing them to be left up to fate, AKA magic 8 ball, seems easy. Problem is when fate tells you to do things you don’t want to do. Will you do them or will you not? What if there are consequences involved? Overall a great story that I was glued to in order to find out what would happen next.

I thought the plot was unique, maybe something others have thought about, but not something that a person who lets the chips fall as they may never put thought into. The setup for the interaction of the 8 Ball was finely executed and continued to provide a thrill ride throughout. I liked all the different scenarios that Will was thrust into and many turned out differently than I expected. The only issue I had is that I wasn’t really happy with the ending. Didn’t expect the way it turned out and would have liked something different.

“Standing out is so much better than blending in. Orange was warm, emotional, flamboyant. Orange is the new black.” The idea of not blending in and standing out was great. I liked the inner turmoil Will went through and the overall outcome of him finally standing out and up for himself. Trying to blend in and be unnoticeable can be harder than being yourself. Becoming confident in who you are is something that comes with the ability to say f it. That aspect of the book really stood out to me and made it a positive story.

I really liked the characters. For some reason the relationship of Will and Allie really made me happy and I was constantly hoping of the best between them. Their relationship was a roller coaster that had me needing to know how things were going to go, almost more so than the overall story.

The character development that Will goes through, also noticed by his friends, was great. I liked to see him become a more confident and less socially awkward person as he left his fate up to something else. I loved how his actual personality kept coming out as he was faced with his fate and how the meeker side of him tried to fight it. Will’s natural persona was the perfect person to help you answer the question of what would you do.

Tyler McGuire did a great job with the narration. I really enjoyed his character voices and thought they were fitting for the type of characters. I think he added the missing touch to them with his narration and he made them all come to life.

I read this book quickly, and was enjoying the progression of the story and it's characters. Unfortunately, the ending left me flat. It was too easy for me to see the ending coming with the "surprise twist." I was really hoping the author would take it somewhere else and surprise me.
I should note that I requested this book and agreed to review it.
The narration was solid. I would definitely read another narration.

Enjoyable read, but with little reward at the end
