A love letter to books and reading by beloved Newbery Award-winning author Katherine Paterson.

William hates reading. It’s so boring! Word after word, page after page, chapter after chapter, ugh. So when his local library starts stocking something called a brame - a combination of a book and a game in a jar - he’s intrigued enough to give it a go. He has to nibble the brame pieces, which taste like cardboard and only give a hint to the story, which is fun at first. Who, or what, is Madison? What does “Thursday at Midnight” mean? Chewing the pieces is slow and tedious work - how will William ever get through all the pieces and figure out what this story is about?

Consuming a story has never been like this.

I'm a HUGE Katherine Paterson fan, so I was super excited when I saw this coming from Audible. As a lover of all things reading, I loved the premise - a boy thinks he's bored of what's in the library, so he seeks out something new and different. This story did not disappoint!

The narrator's performance was super engaging and brought Ms. Paterson's words to life. The voices were great throughout and the story flew by. This title manages to be entertaining and heartwarming all at once. I can't wait to recommend this book to friends!

My 11-year-old son enjoyed and laughed at so many parts. I also listened with him and said oh my gosh this is you at times. LOL I believe it was a really good book.
