Not all witches are evil entities, in fact most practice healing techniques to help those who cannot afford modern medicine. Mary was one of those "good witches' who healed the sick and dying, told the locals their fortunes and removed hexes and curses while casting her own curses on those who wished her bad. The witch was quick to help anyone in need, but damned those to hell who dared to cross her. Other witches are pure evil, and one such wretched witch bring's forth bad luck that follows any living soul that is unfortunate enough to come in contact with her. Beaula's black cat has been known to run in front of vehicles, causing them to swerve to the side of the road where you will most likely find the feline's owner walking along her path.
