1944, New York City. Judy Washington is tired of having to work at the Bronx Slave Market, cleaning white women’s houses for next to nothing. Really enjoyed!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! I had it in my TBR for a few weeks, but read/listened to it at the perfect time. And in one day I must add lol..the bio said it was based off of true events, and now I'd love to know more on this real story. I do remember seeing on the news (Chicago) last year or so, a segment in relation to this. I would defiantly recommend this book; it was a nice and smooth read/listen. And of course Robin Miles did an excellent job narrating it!!

A Beautiful Part of American History that Feels like it was Hidden

I enjoyed the storytelling of the significant role the brave African American soldiers of the WAC played in World War II. As old as I am, I only just heard about their service this year. I’m grateful to them for their service and I hope they get the coverage and honors they deserve.✌🏽

Humble Pride

This epic story depicts a true example of the absurdity of racism and how the true strength of a person can be measured by their works and not their thoughts of judgment.

Resilience

I liked the viewpoint of Mary Alice. Her ability to overcoming a lifetime of thinking one thinking one thing yet another is truth was very inspiring

Must read book

The narrator of this book truly brought this book to life. From beginning to end of story line and narrator captured my attention and kept me engaged.

This is most certainly a much read/listen.
