Necromance-for-hire Dante Valentine is choosy about her jobs. Hot-tempered and with nerves of steel, she can raise the dead like nobody’s business. But one rainy Monday morning, everything goes straight to Hell.

The Devil hires Dante to eliminate a renegade demon: Vardimal Santino. In return, he will let her live. It’s an offer she can’t refuse.

There’s just one catch. How do you kill something that can’t die?

Performed by Colleen Delany, Christopher Scheeren, Kimberly Gilbert, Joe Brack, Lily Beacon, Michael Glenn, Thomas Keegan, Mort Shelby, Nanette Savard, James Konicek, Elizabeth Jernigan, Terence Aselford, David Coyne, Tim Getman, Nathanial Perry, Joseph Thornhill, Ken Jackson.

I enjoyed reading the printed version of this book. I tried a previous audible - that narrator was horrible - I couldn't finish it. The narrator is better in this version.

However, the main character is portrayed as whiny and very YA. If I had encountered this first, I would have given up on the story.

I appreciate the written version so much more. If I recommended anything - I would recommend it and skipping the audio versions.

To summarize:

Will this version get a second listen? No.
Would I recommend this audible version? No.
Main characters? Lacking a depth that the written version includes.
As a result ---- pretty disappointed.

My first time reading Lilith Saintcrow and I chose to listen with GraphicAudio (through Audible). The experience was great, as usual. Not sure how much I am going to like Dante or Jef (Jaf? - sounded both ways). However, I am not going to actually read (not listen) to book 2 "Dead Man Rising" in order to maybe see if I can move deeper into the story and the characters. Either way, GraphicAudio always keeps me engaged in the many stories I have listened with this venue.

Love GraphicAudio and what it does to a story.
