Abused in her marriage, a woman’s life is shattered by abuse in her marriage and took off with her 4-year-old son to drive for 2 years in a 50,000 mile journey around the world in the only direction they knew: “away from here!” This tale is for all who chose to travel beyond their wounds, toward what they can make possible.

The bones of the story are about a mother and son who leave an abusive situation, travel the world and begin their healing journey. Throughout the travel story, it is peppered with lessons the author learned from her grandmother, Milton Erickson, Ki Aikido, her training, and other healing forces in her life. This story inspired me to travel more, and offered some helpful ideas about how to work with fear when traveling. There were also some wonderful practices weaved into the story about shifting attention and healing, and they have been incredibly valuable to me. Lastly, it was delightful to hear the author's real voice at the very end, during the coda. This is definitely worth a listen!
A brave and hopeful memoir, filled with teaching!
