After losing everything in life, Frank is eager for a fresh start. He books a flight to Alaska for a job interview, but never reaches his destination. The plane crashes, and his fight for survival becomes a surreal spiral to a point where it becomes hard to differentiate between what is real... and what isn't.

Warning: This book explores dark themes of grief, loss, and mental illness.

I should not feel this uncomfortable while also soothed.

Jason Nickey throws a nightmare at you with his unique mind twisting story. Tom Jordan delivers it in a way where you feel like your brain is being tucked in a cozy velvet coffin.

So many twists and turns. I really enjoyed this book. It was a good short read and I think any horror book reader will enjoy it.

I enjoyed this very quick listen. I did NOT see where it was going, but that is not for lack of foreshadowing! The story itself is a tidy little tale exploring the effects of grief, depression, and substance abuse on an already unstable mind. My only issues are that the composition is a little unpolished and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to like the protagonist or not. The author frequently uses repeat words in the same sentence/paragraph (for example, "He walked toward the cabin. In the cabin, he found...."). A good editor could fix that need for varying vocabulary, and it's not so distracting that I couldn't enjoy the story despite it. And the protagonist seemed stuck in a victim mentality, while also seeming to fall prey to some tenets of toxic masculinity: the need to repress emotion, the need for others' approval to feel worthy, resorting to substance abuse instead of seeking psychological and emotional support. This may have been intentional and I just missed the point a bit, since it does seem that lack of accountability is a motif here. Overall I enjoyed it and would read more by the author, if only for the deft psychological twists he seamlessly creates.

Could use some cleaning up, but a solid story

Received an audio copy from the narrator Tom Jordan, this is an honest review. Wreckage is a harrowing poignant and a profoundly unforgettable story brought to life through Tom's great performance. Frank finally believed he'd found a much needed stability with this wife and son... only to lose both of them that forever scars the man's very soul. As Frank stands upon a precipice if it's worth still living, salvation comes from a job offer that would take Frank to Alaska... he could never imagine surviving a plane crash and then survive in the wilderness in hopes of rescue. It's what happens after all of this that the author hauntingly twists the narrative into a labyrinth of what exactly is Frank experiencing that is realistic messy and deeply sad at the same.

A wonderful story worthy of readers' precious time.

Highly recommended.

I’m happy it did have a solid ending rather than one where the reader must decide.

Great story!
