Sometimes I wonder what life was like before magic burst into existence, before the Magical War of 810 destroyed our world. What it was like before there were Wyrd Blood, or we were forced into hiding.

And that's what I've been doing for years, hiding me and my crew. But that's about to end. My crew is starving and things are getting dire. When I get desperate enough to try and steal from Ryker, one of the toughest men in these parts, things go bad and my Wyrd Blood origins are outed.

But it's not all bad. Ryker can help keep me alive from the mysterious illness that's been plaguing me. He can also feed my crew. The only thing I have to do in return is start another war.

Contains mature themes.

I wasn’t sure about the first parts but at the end the character development has me interested enough to go to book 2....

Slow start, then interesting...

The fmc is a very young woman. It's endlessly jarring to hear the narrator's mismatched mature voice. I'd assume effort to match narrators voice age with that of the main character being narrated would be made. Yet that didn't happen in this case and the listeners experience is less for it.

Wrong narrator

Not the greatest, very slow beginning and the main character gets annoying and never really gets developed or refined. The plot is dragged on and seemed like their was an attempt to turn the.one plot into one book when it could've been covered in half the time. I'll try the next book but if the start is the same I'm not even going to finish

the narrator also seemed a little too old to match the main character, she sounded really manly

very slow
