Amy Poehler is, above all, a performer. Listening to this book as opposed to reading it added SO MUCH to the experience. Lines that would have been quickly skimmed in text were hilarious when delivered by Amy. She cracks herself up! She plays the organ and sings a song she made up! She and Seth Meyers have an improvised conversation! PATRICK STEWART READS HAIKUS. Honestly, there is no reason not to listen to this book.

I really loved this book. It had me laughing on the street like an idiot, and tearing up on the subway....like an idiot. She's very sincere and incisive about herself, which fully supports her public persona of being a totally awesome person who we would all very much like to be friends with.

I'm generally not a fan of comparing women to one another because it's stupid, but I think people who listened to Bossypants will likely also listen to Yes Please. It's very different from Bossypants. It's more emotionally raw, more sincere, more warm & fuzzy. It's a totally different experience, and equally wonderful.

Highly, highly recommended.

Listen to this book for sure

Would you consider the audio edition of Yes Please to be better than the print version?

Absolutely! Hearing it from Amy was much better than imagining her voice while listening.

What other book might you compare Yes Please to and why?

Bossypants, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me, etc. as they are written by other femme comedians

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

Besides Amy P., I loved the guest narrators and especially loved hearing from Seth Meyers.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Loved how Amy was real about her past experiences, what shaped her as a young girl and how hard she worked to get where she is now. Also loved how she confidently spoke of her hard work and wasn't ashamed to own it that she deserves to be where she is because of it.

Amy P, you are cool as hell (my wife's review)

This book will make you laugh and make you think. Truly enjoyed the read and have already recommended this to friends. The last chapter was well worth the book on its own.

Funny and intelligent

I enjoyed this book much more than I have other similar titles, such as Tina Fey's Bossy Pants or Nick Offerman's Paddle Your Own Canoe.

You get a real sense of Amy's personality and sense of humor. I would definitely recommend it.

Down to earth, sense of Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler is a gifted writer. She can turn a phrase with the best of them, make you laugh (for sure) and even make you cry (you want to because of the truth of her words). Hearing her voice (really hearing) makes her story even better. Now I am going to go back to see the last season of Parks and Recreation. How could I have neglected to do that for so long? Answer: I didn't want to admit that it was really over.

Words out loud...better than words read!
