George Webber, a first-time author, writes a book that makes frequent references to his home town of Libya Hill. The book is a success, except in Libya Hill, where the residents believe that it paints an extremely distorted portrait of their town. They send Webber menacing letters, including death threats.

As another reviewer wrote, this isn't the book. It's an abridged NBC broadcast of the story. I was disappointed.

Loved the performances, and I adored the themes, but the ending was a bit lacking

Sadly, this is just a summary of the novel. Yet, it captures the essence. The acting in the recording is of fairly low standard. The recording is scratchy and poor, too. Yet, the novel has substance that deserves to a part of Audible. The book deserves better.

I foolishly acquired this synopsis of Thomas Wolfe's "You Can't Go Home Again". I was excited about chapter 2, etc. only to discover audible doesn't have the entire book available. What a disappointment! It looks like other Audible listeners were duped, too.
